Created for the 2025 edition of Synapse, a conference exploring the intersection of art, society, and science. Yann LeCun is one of the pioneers of modern artificial intelligence and was the Chief AI Scientist at Meta. His talk unpacked how AI systems learn, perceive the world, and where the technology might be heading, while also questioning the opportunities and responsibilities that come with building increasingly intelligent machines.
The visual language explored the world through the eyes of a computer. Everyday scenes were reconstructed as if seen by an AI model, objects identified with labels, environments broken into pixels, faces mapped with anchor points, and movements guided by detection lines and data overlays.
The illustrations also imagined more abstract questions: How would a machine interpret love, friendship, or human relationships? Can emotions be decoded as patterns, or is there something fundamentally beyond computation?
Art Direction: Era Namjoshi
Script: Shoma Choudhury
Motion by: James Thottan
